Following their crushing 70-33 loss to Highlanders last Saturday, Giants return to action when they face newcomers Sixers in a Southern Region Basketball League match at Bulawayo Club for the Disabled (BCD) today.

Giants lost top players like Michael Zvoushe and Derrick Chiradza at the beginning of the season to Highlanders, but Emmanuel Mukandi, Muchengeti Hamandishe and Mandla Moyo can inspire them to victory.

Sixers had a taste of league action last Friday and surprised National University of Science and Technology (Nust) winning 45-23.

Nust have an even tougher assignment when they face Highlanders today.

They have to contend with Zvoushe, Chiradza, Stewart Woods and Jordan Davies who have been impressive so far for Highlanders.

Nust have found the going tough and suffered a humiliating 137-25 defeat at the hands of Abundant Life Christian Centre (ALCC) last Saturday.

Tomorrow, Kings face Gweru side Unicorns at BCD. Unicorns will be searching for a victory after narrowly losing by two points against Kwekwe team Steelers 56-54 last Saturday.

Kings would want to continue where they left off after beating ZB Titans 64-19 in their last game.

Kings will look up to players like Tom Skwila, Kevin Mayingire, Olfie Dollie, Kudzai Murisi and Garikai Gumbo while Unicorns will seek inspiration from players like Walter Mabhena and Fungai Tswatswa. In another game ALCC face ZB Titians tomorrow. ALCC recovered from their first defeat to Unicorns and went on to thump Nust 137-25.

William Muchuchuti, Brandon Gonyora, Moses Tigere and Honest Nguruve will battle against ZB Titans. In their first game ALCC beat Giants and Steelers before they lost to Unicorns.

Sixers return to action against Oilers tomorrow while Nust face Midlands State University.

In the women’s basketball, Giants take on Stars while Hawks face Highlanders.
