A 37-year-old man from the Manjolo area in Binga recently used a catapult on his neighbour, injuring him after the latter allegedly called him a “snake”.

On October 12 this year, Bernard Muzamba met the complainant, Gideon Nyoni (53).

He allegedly struck him with a stone from a catapult after the two had an argument over an undisclosed issue. Nyoni reportedly suffered internal injuries.

He reported the matter to the police, leading to Muzamba’s arrest.

Muzamba pleaded not guilty to assault charges when he appeared before Binga magistrate Stephen Ndlovu yesterday.

Ndlovu, however, convicted and sentenced him to an effective three months in jail.

When Muzamba was asked in court why he assaulted Nyoni he said: “I was angry because he called me a snake.”

Bruce Maphosa prosecuted.
