Bulawayo Motoring Club (BMC) has started preparations for the sound-off competition set for Breedon Everard Race Track on the Victoria Falls road on October 29.

BMC chairperson Leonora Young told NewsDay Sport they were expecting international participants for the event.

“We are going to have the sound-off spinning and we are expecting about six entries. The sound-off competition will have about 20 vehicles. We are expecting participants to be from Zimbabwe and we usually have entries from Botswana as well,” she said.

Zane Shah, Jeetan Palmer, Mohammed Lambat and Darren Pragji, are among those expected to participate in the sound-off competition.

The race track was completely overhauled last year and has hosted three hour endurance races, three drag race meetings as well as the sound-off boxing competition earlier in the year.

The endurance race was held last year after two years of absence because the track was damaged, but was repaired in time for BMC to hold the race last December.

Young said they had also started preparations for the three hour endurance race set for December 3 which will be sponsored by Toyota and Castrol.

“We will have about 30 motor racers for the three hour endurance race. We expect entries from Botswana, South Africa and motor racers from Bulawayo and Harare,” she said.

Ten Toyota MR2 cars from Harare as well as Subaru and Porsche cars from South Africa are expected for the race.

Last Saturday, Harare duo of Mano Zevgolis and Derrick Shelton came out as the fastest driver and biker in the BMC Drag Race elimination round at the racecourse.
