Caps United striker Evans Gwekwerere has fired warning shots at Black Mambas whom they meet on Saturday at Morris Depot in one of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League matches lined up for this weekend.

Gwekwerere who scored a brace in a league match against Chicken Inn last weekend to take his goal tally to 10, said he wants to win the golden boot award.

“It will be a tricky match as they are playing at home. However, my target is the top goal scorer of the year award and in these last five games I hope to score at least five goals.

“I have 10 goals so far and I hope to continue scoring and that means starting with Black Mambas,” he said.

Gwekwerere, however, is aware of the threat posed by Mambas who usually play well at Morris Depot.

“The fact that they will be playing at home makes the match difficult. We have to play to our best to win the three points. We definitely want to win the match,” said Gwekwerere.

Gwekwerere, who leads the top goal scorers’ chart together with Simba Sithole and Dynamos’ Roderick Mutuma at 10 goals each, would be hoping for support from the likes of Pride Tafirenyika and Marvel Samaneka.

Douglas Walaza and Nyasha Mukumbi should be at their best to thwart the Mambas raids likely to be orchestrated by Peter Kachirika.

They also have in their ranks former Dynamos hitman Sebastian Mutizirwa, who though he is still far from being at his best, can be a handful on his day.

The John “Toto” Ncube-coached side will, however, be depleted as they miss their top player Brian Abbas Amidu having trials in Sweden.

They, however, play well at Morris Depot backed by a few, but noisy band of police officers, having claimed the scalp of fading giants Highlanders in a league match two weeks ago.

On Sunday will also see the Ralph Kawondera-coached Masvingo United facing relegation-haunted Kiglon at Gwanzura.

Masvingo beat Dynamos 1-0 at Mucheke last Sunday and if they maintain that momentum, they will survive relegation.
