A power outage hit Sanganai-Hlanganani World Travel Africa Fair which kicked off at the Harare International Conference Centre yesterday, NewsDay can reveal.

The atmosphere was gloomy at the supposedly colorful event as organisations and companies showcasing their products tried to deal with the blackout.

“We have no power here and we cannot take our clients down through some of the products we wanted to showcase,” said a disgruntled exhibitor. Fullard Gwasira, Zesa public relations manager, expressed ignorance over the power outage at the tourism expo.

“I’m yet to receive the report, but it must be due to a fault somewhere. Let me run to it as you know there is load-shedding in most places across the country,” Gwasira said.

Other companies that had generators had already switched on to the power machines to access electricity while those that did not just waited dejectedly.

The theme for this year’s fair is Promoting Peace through Tourism.
