Dynamos striker Denver Mukamba has been ruled out of Sunday’s Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) match against Monomotapa at Rufaro after accumulating three yellow cards.

Mukamba, a vital cog in coach Callisto Pasuwa’s five-match unbeaten league and cup streak, picked up cautions against Black Mambas, Shooting Stars and Zimbabwe Saints, according to confirmation from the PSL received on Wednesday.

The former champions sit in second place on the standings with 42 points, one behind joint leaders Motor Action and FC Platinum.

They have a realistic chance of assuming top spot if results go their way.

Dynamos are riding high with four wins in the league since Pasuwa took over and have also reached the quarter-finals of the $1 million Mbada Diamonds Cup after dismissing Caps on Sunday.

Motor Action, also in the last eight of the knockout cup, face Caps United, who will be missing Edmore Chafungamoyo at the National Sports Stadium on Saturday as they bid to open a gap between themselves and the chasing duo.

Platinum will be in the capital against Blue Ribbon, hoping to finally get back to winning ways after a run of six games without collecting maximum points. The platinum miners are buoyed by their 1-0 win over Black Mambas in the Mbada Diamonds Cup.

Mambas host fourth-placed Highlanders at Morris Depot in an encounter that can go either way.

Gunners will miss their double scorer in the cup win, Lloyd Masakusi, after he also accumulated three yellow cards, as they tackle Masvingo United at their new favourite hunting ground Lafarge.
