“The site is also a platform for social interaction and a free, easy mode of expression for the youths”, he added.

DefZee’s day-to-day administration is been done by a core team comprising of ten youth members and correspondence writers from different schools in the capital.

Moyo added that they are currently working on an initiative to make the site more accessible to youths.

“With the emergence of Internet on mobile phones, Defzee aims to take advantage of the mobile Internet boom by going mobile.”

Many youths welcomed the launch of the Defzee site and appealed for more support on youth programmes from relevant stakeholders.

“The Internet is a new medium in Zimbabwe and is being excitedly taken up around the country by both youths and adults so we hope that Defzee will speed up the process of making the site more accessible on mobile phones,” said members of the of the press club at Lifelong College .
