HARARE Jazz 105

Female jazz musicians are set to shine for three days at Jazz 105 in Harare at the Ladies in Jazz Festival that kicks off on Friday.

Among the list of performers will be Dudu Manhenga, Rute Mbangwa, Claire Nyakujara, Selmor Mtukudzi, Jean Masters, Diana Samkange and Edith WeUtonga.

Fusion Bar and Café

Eight DJs from around Zimbabwe will on Friday night battle it out on the decks at the Miller Golden Circle DJs battle.

DJs, Dee Nosh, Flevah Flev, Styles and Phat Beats will represent the Black Miller team while DJs L-Roy, Naida, Tricks and Fortune Souls will represent the Golden Miller team. Local musicians, Stunner and Cindy plus dance group High Definition will also perform at the party.

On Saturday, Judgement Yard will host a “Jums Off Summer Party” featuring I- Randu, Flevah, 2Bad, Ossy, DJ Garry B.

Tony’s Nite Spot (Portugal Restaurant)

Located at corner Samora Machel Avenue and Eighth Street, Pensao is the place for party-loving clubbers. Every Friday all-female dance group the Blue Virgins strut their stuff. This and every Saturday catch hard dancehall and club vibes with host DJs Flow and Smooth.

Kebab Centre

Talented Jamaican reggae and dancehall artist Lutan Fyah (real name Anthony Martin) will on Friday night perform at Kebab Centre. He will perform with Chirwa Ites, a local band. Mic Inity, Eyrah Mathazia, I Watta and I-Randu, are some of the acts billed to perform at the event.

Café Noir

On Saturday evening, the Café will host “High Society’s Saturday” with T-Bass and SP Stylez on the decks. They will be backed by NR Ent.

Sports Diner International

Youthful icon Sulumani Chimbetu will be at Sports Diner tonight kicking off the weekend in style for dendera fans. He takes to the Commissioner General’s Funfair tomorrow before heading to popular outdoor venue Mutangadura in Ruwa for a family show on Sunday. He will be supported by Josphat Somanje for Friday night and Sunday shows.

Babylon Nightclub

Allan Chimbetu’s act seems to be on the rise these days. He presented a scintillating performance at the recently held Chibuku Road to Fame finals. On Friday night he takes to Babylon Nightclub in Tafara while on Saturday night he will be at Takarangana Nightclub in Hatcliffe.

Aquatic Complex (Chitungwiza)

On Friday night Alick Macheso ignites his favourite hunting ground, the Aquatic Complex in Chitungwiza. The show is a potential thriller as Cheso Power gets to engage his closest rival Tongai Moyo supported by Tryson Chimbetu. On Saturday Macheso takes turns with a host of other artistes to entertain revellers at the Commissioner General’s Funfair at Morris Depot.

Arms (Chegutu)

After the Aquatic Complex show with Macheso, Tongai Moyo heads to Chegutu for a show at Arms before heading back to the capital for a family show in the Harare Gardens. He will be supported by Madiz and the duo of Morgan and Tendai Dembo for the Harare Gardens show.

Grand Hotel (Kadoma)

The king of zora music, Leonard Zhakata, visits Kadoma for a show at Grand Hotel on on . The show is expected to be explosive with his fans relishing artist’s release of his latest album, Gotwe.

Mkoba Teachers College (Gweru)

Reformed Church in Zimbabwe and the Kingdom Financial Holdings Limited will on Saturday afternoon host the national Choral Music Festival at the Mkoba Teachers’ College. 20 choirs drawn from around the country will battle it out and one choir will lift the Kingdom trophy.

Paparazzi Sports Diner

Friday night, join DJs Lionheart, Que and Skillz for a show dubbed “DJs Reunion”. They will be playing a mixed bag of music.

Mojo (BAC)

On Saturday evening starting 7:30pm there is the traditional, “Class of tha ’90s” jam session featuring Mark Vusani and Tony with a selection of soul, R&B, hip-hop and dancehall with vocal house .

Bulawayo Theatre

Friday afternoon there is a play entitled The Gospel of Othello starting 2:30pm. At 6pm, join internationally renowned arts group Siyaya Arts who will be on stage showcasing what they do best.

Rainbow Elite 400

On Saturday afternoon starting at 3pm, join comedians Clive Chigubhu, The General, Doc Vikela and Simba the Comic King for “An Hour of Laughter” at the venue.

Cry Mantengwane (Gwanda)

Bulawayo-based DJ Keitho will be playing at the pub on Friday night at a show that will feature Gwanda-based contemporary dance group, Ghetto Smurfs. The show is dubbed the “Smoke Party”.
