A 28-year-old man, Soda Muleya, from the Kariangwe area in Binga held hostage his neighbour, Witness Ndlovu (25), and axed both his legs following a dispute over a debt.

Binga magistrate Stephen Ndlovu heard Muleya owed Ndlovu an undisclosed amount of money.

Ndlovu had gone to Muleya’s home to ask for the money when Muleya detained him before axing his two legs saying he was tormenting him by asking for the money.

Muleya pleaded guilty to assault charges when he appeared before Binga resident magistrate Stephen Ndlovu.

The magistrate convicted and sentenced him to three months in jail which was wholly suspended on condition he performs 105 hours of community service at Siansale Primary School.
