A South Africa-based man popularly referred to as injiva appeared in court on Friday for assaulting his wife after catching her being intimate with their landlord.

The revelation came after Lovemore Banda (31) of Pumula North appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Shepherd Mjanja sitting at Western Commonage Magistrates’ Court facing charges of physical abuse in terms of the Domestic Violence Act.

He was remanded in custody to September 30.

Charges against him are that on September 14, Banda came home from South Africa where he is based and upon arrival at his lodgings where he had left his wife Linda Bhebhe (28), he knocked on the door but could not get a response.

When he persisted, Bhebhe refused to open the door and answered him while in bed with the landlord, allegedly being intimate with him.

On realising what was happening Banda got angry, forced himself into the landlord’s bedroom and pounced on her.

After the assault, the wife reported the matter to the police, leading to Banda’s arrest.
