Malvern Longwe struck on the hour as Hwange overcame visiting Black Mambas in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at the Colliery Stadium on Sunday.

Hwange though were on the back foot as early as the fourth minute when their goalkeeper Petros Mhari failed to clear a ball, but Mambas could not convert the half-chance.

But the hosts were soon on the counter-attack with Francisco Zekumbawire’s curler going just wide of the target two minutes later.

Mambas began the second half on a high note with Patrick Muswere’s scorcher in the 50th minute flying over the bar. Hwange’s Zambian midfielder Kennedy Kashema responded with another shot which went over the bar before Longwe’s goal which proved to be the winner.

At Mucheke Stadium, Masvingo scored twice from the penalty spot in the second half as they drew 2-2 with Shabanie Mine.
