A 52 -year-old Bulawayo man has been jailed for an effective three months after he attempted to sodomise a 36-year-old man whom he had offered accommodation after a beer drink.

Antony Gadlula of Makokoba was on Wednesday convicted on his own plea of guilty to criminal insult and contravening the Censorship and Entertainment Act (possession of pornography) by Bulawayo magistrate Tawanda Muchemwa.

He was sentenced to eight months in prison of which five months were conditionally suspended to five years.

Charges against him are that on September 7, Gadlula met the complainant in a beerhall in Makokoba.

The two started drinking beer together from 6pm until about 10:30pm when they decided to go home. However, since it was late Gadlula offered the complainant accommodation for the night.

When they arrived at Gadlula’s house he allegedly stripped naked and played a pornographic video.

He then asked the complaint to have anal sex with him, but he refused.

Gadlula allegedly offered the complaint $50 in return for the requested favour, but the complainant would not budge.

Realising what was about to happen the complainant fled from Gadlula’s lodgings and made a police report, leading to his arrest.
