Liquideep set for two-gig Zim tour

International house music sensation Liquideep from South Africa is expected in Zimbabwe on Friday for two shows to be held in Harare and Bulawayo over the weekend.

Their first performance will be at the Fusion Café and Bar at Borrowdale Racecourse on Friday evening followed by a gig on Saturday evening at Horizon in Bulawayo.

Leading Zimbabwean DJs Dee Nosh, L Roy and Rax will support the group.

Dee Nosh who is one of the organisers of the event said this was going to be the duo’s first time to perform in Zimbabwe.

The group which is comprised of singer, songwriter and producer, Jonathan Hamilton (Ziyon) and DJ and producer Thabo Shokgolo (Ryzor), will be accompanied by their manager, Sunnyboy Mthimunye.

C&A Entertainment, the faces behind the Sean Kingston and Elephant Man shows, are organising the show.

Dee Nosh made it clear that the group was coming for club performances, meaning they will not be bringing a band.

“Liquideep will not be playing with a live band, but they have promised to use a guitar for some of their tracks especially on love songs,” he said.

The group was formed in 2007 and just two years later they caught the attention of the entire nation with the track Fairytale.

Through this track, they were nominated for the South African Music Awards and went on to bag a Channel O Music Video Award in 2009.

The duo’s tracks have been remixed by big international underground names such as Suges, Raw Artistic Soul, Lars Behrenroth and Aqua Bassino, among others.

The duo describes their sound as original and influenced by Africa’s beat. They released their debut album, Fabrics of the Heart in 2010 which includes hit tracks, Alone, Angel, Settle for Less and Something About You.

The album has gone on to garner a string of awards including Metro FM and MTV awards.

Liquideep have also shared the stage with international stars including Akon and Angie Stone.
