Chapungu bounced back to winning ways with a 1-0 edging of fellow former Premiership side Lancashire Steel in a Zifa Central Soccer League match played at Ascot Stadium on Saturday.

Midfielder Kenneth Bhuka scored the all-important goal in the first half to secure victory for the airmen who, the previous weekend, had suffered the disappointment of having their 19-game unbeaten run stopped by Tripple B who had beaten them with a similar scoreline away in Beitbridge.

Saturday’s win saw Chapungu, who now have 38 points, leaping one place up to settle on fourth spot where they dislodged ZimAlloys who went down 1-2 to Tripple B at Dulibadzimu the following day.

Tripple B who have made Dulibadzimu a fortress remain on second spot with 43 points and five behind leaders Hardbody who got three free points at the weekend courtesy of Rutendo Stars who were booted out of the league in July.

Tongogara beat Blanket Mine 2-0 at Amaveni Stadium on Saturday to follow up the previous weekend’s 4-2 win over TM Eagles.

With the win, the soldiers preserved their third place where they are two points behind Tripple B and trailing Hardbody with seven.
