Talented Jamaican reggae and dancehall artist Lutan Fyah, real name Anthony Martin, is expected in Zimbabwe for a gig to be held on September 23 at Kebab Centre in the capital.

Fyah will be accompanied by his DJ and manager for the show that is being organised by Judgement Yard.

His visit follows the trek of fellow Jamaican artists like Capleton, Elephant Man, Brick and Lace, Luciano and Sizzla Kalonji, among others that performed in Zimbabwe over the past couple of years.

Fyah is expected to stage another show in neighbouring South Africa ahead of his tour here. Tendai Tembo, aka DJ Flevah from Judgment Yard confirmed Fyah’s visit.

“Fyah is setting foot for the first time in Zimbabwe on September 21 for a gig at the Kebab Centre on September 23.

“The talented musician is on a promotional tour of Africa and we thought it wise for him to come to Zimbabwe since his fellows like Sizzla, Elephant Man and Beenie Man performed on local soil.

“Fyah is expected to perform in South Africa and we felt local music lovers should also benefit from his arrival in the region.

“He will be backed by a local band that would comprise some of the finest instrumentalists in the country.

“Local supporting acts will be announced in due course, but for the mean time, Winky D’s presence is doubtful since he will be performing in Bulawayo,” he said.

Fyah was born in 1975 in Spanish Town in Jamaica and is a member of the Rastafari movement of Bobo Shanti.

Fyah started his musical career in 1999 after having spent some time as a professional football player. He recorded his first songs for Buju Banton’s Gargamel Records.

His first two albums were released by Lustre Kings and Minor 7 Flat 5, the latter which had Fyah as guest artist on albums by Turbulence and Luciano.

Fyah released several singles with various labels from Jamaica, the United States and the United Kingdom and has also featured on Dr Dre and The Fugees songs.

He has appeared on many compilation albums and featured on many other artists’ song releases.

In 2009 dub-step artist Rusko released Babylon Volume 2 including the track Sound Guy Is My Target featuring Fyah.

He has also put his voice on a number of singles by Jah Warrior that include Never Surrender My Faith, Let Righteousness Be your Guide and Crab Inna Barrel.
