The Zimbabwe men’s hockey team have a chance to restore lost pride in the Africa Olympic hockey qualifiers when they take on Ghana at Khumalo Hockey Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

The Bill Birkett-coached side has been on the receiving end in all three of their opening matches falling 5-0 to giants Egypt last Friday before they were pummelled 10-0 by favourites South Africa in the second match.

Zimbabwe were again beaten 4-0 by Kenya on Monday and are definitely out of the race for the London excursion.

However, Ghana will not be an easy walk in the park after the West Africans beat Morocco 6-0 on Sunday before succumbing to a 4-0 loss to South Africa on Monday.

On the first day of the competition, the Ghanaians drew 2-2 with Kenya. Tournament giants South Africa and Egypt lock horns in the evening.

South Africa have scored 31 goals in the tournament so far and are yet to concede a goal while the Egyptians have banged in 24 goals and let in four goals.
