Royal Harare Golf Club —The major tournament in Harare was the Royal Vase and Bowl which was played on Saturday and Sunday at Royal Harare Golf Club.

There were two team events, the Vase Event and the Bowl Event. Vase Event teams were Chapman Golf Club, Ruwa Golf Club, Royal Harare Golf Club teams A and B, Borrowdale Brooke Golf Club and Falcon Golf Club.

The Bowl teams were Bulawayo Golf Club, Sherwood Golf Club, Ruwa Golf Club, Wingate Golf Club, Royal Harare Golf Club, Mthwakazi Golf Society and Chapman Golf Club.

The winners of the Vase Event were winners Wingate Golf Club — 20 points; runner- up Royal Harare Golf Club – 16 points.

The Bowl Event winner was Royal Harare Golf Club – 20 points; runner-up — the Seniors Team – 15 points.

Chapman Golf Club — The Wednesday club four-ball betterball stableford competition was sponsored by the club.

The winners were; 1. D Mabhiza/T Chipunza – 52 points; 2. N Greenhagh/I Pozzo – 48; 3.P.Gulab/J.T.Patel — 46. Saturday there was the Chamber of Mines.

The format of the competition was four-ball betterball stableford.

The winners of the competition were, 1. J Salimo/G Mvududu of MMCZ — 51 points; 2. C Magwenzi/D Komola of Rio Zim – 44; 3. N Mhembere/G Zhou of Zimplats – 44; 4.V.Bhasera/L.Chimuka of Murowa Diamonds – 43; 5.P.Chiwaka/S.Segura of Zimplats – 42; 6.N.Mpofu/F.Tigere of M.M.C.Z – 42; 7.E.Nyabvure/Chamboko of Zisco – 42.

On Sunday there was the Jumbo Intermines Golf Trophy. The format of the competition was four-ball betterball stableford. There were 33 teams and there were prizes for every team.

Listed below are the top 5 winners: 1. E Sithole/A Murahwa/CMagwenzi/D.Komola representing Rio Zim – 93 points; 2. Munangwa/Kwangwane/C Dhlembeu/N Moyo representing SMM 3 — 88; 3.J.Salimo/G.Mvududu/N.Mpofu/Migere representing MMCZ – 87; 4. Mandiwoma/Stevenson/Marovatsanga/Tiriboyi representing Mwana Africa 3 – 86; 5. Musekiwa/Hatendi/Baipai/Feldman representing Zimasco – 85.

Wingate Park Golf Club — The Gobblers Sunday morning four-ball stableford alliance competition winners were: Team A E Darrel/F Stott/G Darrel/J Coceman— 101 points. Winners of team B were:

M Skinner/J Goddard/J Dupreez/B.Slater — 96 points. Winners in team C were: D Jubber/D Hopley/Q Goosen/M McGregor on 96 points. In the afternoon there was Mthwakazi Golf Society and the winners of the stableforde game were:

1. V L Sibanda — 40points; 2. G B Sibanda – 40; 3. S Francis — 38; 4. M Mkandla – 37. Falcon Golf Club — The Saturday medal competition was sponsored by the Captaincy.

Winners were: 1. J D Mahachi – 71 net; 2. A Chipatiso – 71; 3. A Sithole — 72; 4. P Nkomo – 72.

For the Sunday individual stableford competition sponsored by the club the winners were: 1. A.Sithole — 38 points; 2. L Chigumba — 38; 3. D Chigunde — 37; 4. X Malunda — 36.

Hillside Golf Club (Mutare) — Wednesday’s competition was an individual stableford sponsored by the Wandering Easterns.

The winners of the competition were: 1. J Sigaba — 41 points; 2. T Machigere — 39; 3.T Gonese — 39; 4. Y Yatras— 38.

Warren Hills Golf Club — There was a monthly medal on Saturday. P Mpunzwana (handicap 11) had a memorable day when he had an eagle (a two club) on a par 4 of hole number 4. It helped his day’s s gross score of 81 ending on a net score of 70 (2 under).

Chegutu Country Club — On Saturday the Harare Municipal Golf League travelled to Chegutu for their league game. The winners were 1. S.Chiriga — 73 net; 2. C John — 74; 3. M Janyure — 77; 4.

Magede — 77; 5. M Phiri — 78; 6. L C Masendeke – 79; 7. J W Machiwenyika — 79; 8. I Chisepo — 79; 9.A.N.Sibanda – 80; 10.X.Malunda – 82.
