Defending champions Old Georgians will make changes to their squad ahead of their Lion Lager National Rugby League clash against Old Hararians (OH) at Groombridge on Saturday.

The match kicks off at 1500 hrs.

The Groombridge-based side will welcome flanker Njabulo Ndhlovu, full-back Danny Robertson and inside centre Tom Nelson to their side for the important clash.

The trio was missing when Old Georgians beat the same opponents 14-21 during the league group stages two weeks ago.

However, enterprising centr eTakudzwa Chiwanza is out after suffering a shoulder injury while turning out for the Goshawks at the Castle Sevens in Zambia last weekend. Grant Mitchell, player/coach at Old Georgians said he was excited about the return of his key players, but admitted that they would miss Chiwanza.

“It’s going to be a massive game and we need to have our best players available which is why the return of Danny Robertson, Tom Nelson and Njabulo Ndhlovu will be crucial for us.

“Unfortunately Takudzwa Chiwanza is a major doubt after suffering a shoulder injury, which is a major blow as he is our top points scorer this season” said Mitchell.

Asked how he would be approaching this game especially after the two teams met recently Mitchell said: “Two consecutive matches in a row against the same team is always difficult. It requires a great deal more planning and fine tuning to ensure repeats of the previous match are not worked out by the opposition.”

Old Hararians coach Maxwell Madziva said they had worked on their shortcomings from the previous match.

“The boys have been working hard in preparation for this match and we have worked on the weaknesses we noticed from the previous match. In the initial stages of the match the boys seemed to lack confidence and became more dangerous as the match wore on as we managed to finish strongly. In this match we have to make sure that we start well and maintain that throughout the match,” said Madziva.

The winner of this match will take on the winner of the other semi-final clash between Harare Sports Club and Old Miltonians who clash in the latter semi-final at Harare Sports Club.
