Zapu has elected a substantive provincial executive structure for youths and women’s wings in Masvingo province.

In a statement yesterday, Zapu spokesperson Methuseli Moyo said the new structure was elected over the weekend under the supervision of party elder John Maluzo Ndlovu.

“In keeping with the Zapu tradition, the elections were orderly, peaceful, free and fair. Masvingo joins Bulawayo, Midlands, Matabeleland North and Matabeleland South provinces that have elected substantive executives.

“This means all provinces in the southern region have brand new substantive executives to lead Zapu to emphatic victory in the next election,” said Moyo. The new structure consists of provincial chairman Obert Mutemeri, who is deputised by Martha Kwenda.

Rhoda Makomboni was elected chairperson of the party’s women’s union with Marian Mangena deputising her.

In the same elections, Maxwell Nyanyiwa was elected provincial youth chairman with Innocent Ngilazi as his deputy. Martin Maseko, Marble Mtshakatshi and Shadrick Majazi were elected secretary for the main wing, women and youth, respectively.

The party has embarked on a provincial restructuring programme which is aimed at covering the country before holding a national congress this year.
