Popular South African Gospel musician, Keke Phofoolo, popularly known as “Keke”, will be in the country for a crusade — Open Heavens Crusade, that begins today in the capital.
The musician is coming to Zimbabwe on the invitation of AFM Mabelreign Assembly for a crusade that ends on Sunday.
Keke was born in Soweto 27 years ago with a passion to be in the military, but music took over that desire when he was invited by Oupa Montshiwagae in 1994 to join a music group called Zoë Gospel Singers as a backing vocalist.
Keke also toured with jazz legends Bheki Mseleku and Winston Mankunku and got an opportunity to perform.
The hit show Umoja was the break that he needed to expand his talent.
His latest album titled Revival has proved to be an instant hit.
“We all have the opportunity to have what we want, and we need to revive our mindset. Emotions must be dealt with because we have our freedom and Africa has more than what it needs,” he said in a recent interview.
All in all, Keke has recorded three live DVD albums with the latest called Holy of Holies. Keke is a presenter on etv, One Gospel and also a pastor who runs a ministry of his own.

Open Heavens Crusade is the brainchild of AFM Mabelreign Shiloh Word Miracle Centre and has been running for three years.
“Many people have given their lives to Jesus as a result of this crusade. The good news to all Keke fans is that the crusade is absolutely free. The crusade is running under the theme “Unlimted Breakthrough,” said a spokesperson.
“Open Heavens Crusade aims at reaching to our community with the gospel message that is able to bring healing to the total person. It is our burden to share the good news of Christ with all age groups.
“We have invited a high profile musician to create a conducive atmosphere for the liberation of our young people. With relevant music and appropriate word to the right people, we expect the best. The word of God tells us that music is a powerful tool in invoking the presence of God. Through this event we trust that Keke’s music will challenge other artists to do the best for God.”:
