Highly-rated Zimbabwean left-back Qadr Amini is in South Africa with the hope of signing for football champions Orlando Pirates.

The fullback, who jetted into the country on Wednesday, told KickOff.com he would resume trials on Monday.

The 21-year-old national Under-23 captain said he was confident of signing for the Sea Robbers, despite Pirates teeming with talent in the left-back position.

Bucs have a number of left-backs in their ranks, namely Rueben Cloete, new signing Lizo Mjempu and Bafana Bafana man Lucas Thwala, who has settled in the position after recovering from a long injury lay-off.

“They are all talented players, but I am confident of making an impression as I believe in my abilities,” Amini said.

It is the second time Amini will try out at Pirates, following a stint in June. Amini, who is rated the best left-back in the Zimbabwean Premiership at the moment, turns out for former champions Gunners in Harare.

He was also part of the Under-23 team that played their South African counterparts in June, as Amaglug-glug overcame Zimbabwe to book a berth in the All Africa Games scheduled for Mozambique next month. —Kick Off
