Monomotapa coach Taurai Mangwiro has rallied his team to maintain their recent good performances when they visit Black Mambas for a Castle Lager Premier Soccer league clash at Morris Depot this afternoon.

The youthful Monoz team has been enjoying a good run of late which saw them beating Chicken Inn 2-1 before they ran riot and humiliated Caps United 3-0. On Saturday, they came from behind to get a priceless point against Blue Ribbon at Gwanzura Stadium, a result that saw them collecting seven points from three matches and Mangwiro wants his team to maintain that form.

“We have been doing fairly well and I want the boys to keep doing the good job. We are coming back from a draw which is not a very bad result and now we are looking forward to our next match against Black Mambas tomorrow (today),” said Mangwiro. Mambas, on the other hand will also come into the match buoyed by their vintage performance against Dynamos three days ago, which they unfortunately drew after the Harare giants’ late equaliser.

“We are not moved by that. We always treat our opponents the same. We don’t normally look at our opposition’s past performances because every game is a new game,” added Mangwiro.

Monoz are on seventh position with 26 points and a win for them today will move them to fifth position on the log.

Black Mambas are just above the relegation zone — at 12th position with 20 points — and a win for the police outfit will see them swopping positions with fading Caps United who have 22 points.

In another Castle Lager Premier Soccer League matche tomorrow, log leaders FC Platinum will seek to maintain their stranglehold of the league when they visit Barbourfields Stadium to meet Highlanders.

FC Platinum has 39 points while third-placed Bosso are eight points behind.
