English Premiership club Blackburn Rovers boss Steven Kean will tell Zimbabwean striker Benjani “take it or leave it” as he looks to resolve his ongoing contract uncertainty.

The Rovers boss wants the 32-year-old to commit himself to the Ewood Park outfit for another season, but admits the time has come for a decision either way.

The Benjani saga has rumbled on all summer after the striker initially quit Ewood Park following the expiry of his contract and not being happy with the new terms offered.

Kean though offered improved terms to the former Pompey man before Rovers left for Hong Kong, but admits the time has come for an answer. Kean said: “We have offered Benjani improved terms, but I don’t know if they will be enough. I will have another conversation with him because we are getting to the time for a decision, for him and us.

“Hopefully he can agree, but we totally respect it if someone else is offering him better terms and we would wish him all the best. Hopefully that isn’t the case though.” —Lancashire Telegraph
