Mukamba returns for Dynamos

-

Wounded Dynamos, who will be boosted by the return of Denver Mukamba from suspension, will be out to restore lost pride when they take on police side Black Mambas in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League encounter at Rufaro Stadium tomorrow.

DeMbare lost further ground during the week after losing 1-0 to league debutants Blue Ribbon Stars to blow an opportunity of leapfrogging Highlanders into third on the log.

With the win Blue Ribbon completed a league double over their opponents having won the reverse fixture 2-1 in June, but the DeMbare faithfuls will be hoping that the return of one of their most beloved sons could be just the tonic they need.

In the reverse fixture between the two teams Dynamos easily won the match 4-1 with gangly striker Rodrick Mutuma and Sweden-bound Archford Gutu both netting a brace. Warumwa Warumwa, as Mambas are affectionately referred to by their fans, got their consolation from Innocent Nyoni and no doubt this time around they will be hoping for a better display.

The John “Toto” Ncube-coached side is currently sitting precariously just above the relegation zone in 12th position.

Like DeMbare, Mambas also did not have a good day in the office in the last fixture as they went down 2-1 Gunners in their own backyard.

In the other matches Caps United will be hoping to end their seven-match winless run when they take on Masvingo United at Mucheke tomorrow.

Pressure continues to mount on Caps United coach Maxwell Takaendesa Jongwe, who last weekend watched his side humiliated 3-0 by Monomotapa at the National Sports Stadium.

The latest defeat saw them slump further down the log standings into 10th position, two points adrift of Masvingo who are ninth on the log standings.

This will be Masvingo’s first match under caretaker coach Saul Chaminuka after Luke Masomere dumped the side for Shabanie Mine.

Masvingo forced a share of the spoils against Chicken Inn at Luveve at the weekend with a committed display that charmed many neutrals.

Caps United will be missing the services of their skipper Nyasha Mukumbi who is suspended after accumulating three yellow cards while striker Evans Gwekwerere is also ineligible because after suffering the same fate. Gunners will be hoping to continue with their revival under Moses Chunga when they host Shooting Stars at Lafarge while giant-slayers Monomotapa and Blue Ribbon clash at Gwanzura.

Champions Motor Action will have a chance of temporarily moving to the apex of the log if they beat Hwange at the Colliery. Motor Action are just two points behind leaders FC Platinum who are inactive in the league this weekend.

Sunday: Gunners v Shooting Stars
(Lafarge), Dynamos v Black Mambas (Rufaro), Monomotapa v Blue Ribbon (Gwanzura), Masvingo v Caps (Mucheke), Hwange v Motor Action (Colliery)
