National heavyweight boxing champion Thamsanqa Dube will have a taste of international boxing when he takes on South African heavyweight prospect Flo Simba at Emperor’s Palace near Kempton Park at the end of this month.
Simba told Supersport he would bounce back in his fight against Dube after being stopped by François Botha in June.
Simba was knocked cold in the sixth round of his fight against the veteran “White Buffalo”. Their clash will be the main bout on a box-and-dine bill presented jointly by African Ring and Golden Gloves.
“The Botha fight has come and gone. You will see my determination and better defensive skills on August 29,” Simba said in Johannesburg on Wednesday.
Golden Gloves have confirmed that SA light-heavyweight champion Tshepang Mohale will take on Ryno Liebenberg on the same bill. Liebenberg has knocked out all three of his previous opponents.
Warren Joubert will be up against Raymond Mbondunda in a junior lightweight fight over six rounds.
Other bouts — Junior middleweight: Sylvester Zaki v Michael van Heerden, six rounds
Lightweight: Zan Jonker v Jared Silverman, four rounds
Junior welterweight: Adam de Moor v Kata Fakana, four rounds.
