A total of 190 darts players from around the country converge at Falcon College, Esigodini today to participate in the National Closed August Heroes Darts tournament which runs until Monday.

Organising secretary for Bulawayo Metropolitan Province Darts Association Lethukuthula Nkomo yesterday told NewsDay Sport all is set for the tournament which starts today with the social mixed pairs competition featuring two men and one woman today.

“We are having our national tournament and it is going to be a big event because eight provinces have already confirmed participation.

“We expect to have top players like David Nyemba in the competition,” he said.

Nkomo said 133 men and 57 women were set to feature in the competition.

The women start the competition playing round one, two and three before they take a break for the Presidential Open Singles.

They will play round four and finish off the day with the Closed Pairs Cup.

“The tournament will be played on the round-robin format. We will also have cup games which will be for registered players,” he said.

The top players in cup contests will play in the finals on Monday.

Bulawayo will be represented by Ndumiso Tshuma, Moses Ndlovu, Nkululeko Ncube, Makado Tapesa and Jackson Ndimande while Charles John, Peter Mulukulu, Nyemba and Tobias Mawima will represent Harare in the tournament.

The tournament will be used as the platform for selecting 20 players each from the women and men’s sections who will represent the country in the Zone V1 Club Championships next year.
