The national women soccer team, the Mighty Warriors, will have a rare opportunity of a lifetime when they visit the iconic Imtech Arena, for a match against Bundesliga women team HSV Hamburger this evening.

Kick-off is 1930hrs.

The match will wrap up the Mighty Warriors’ two-week training camp where they have played four friendly matches in preparations for the All-Africa Games in Mozambique in September.

So far, the Rosemary Mugadza- coached squad have played against Bundesliga women national league second tier teams, beating TSV Eintracht Immenbeck 2-0, winning 4-0 against SV Ahlerstedt Ottendorf, wallopping Estorf Oldendorf 10-0 before being held to a 2-2 draw by a Germany Students National team.

However, it is this evening’s match that has left the whole team on cloud nine.

Not only will the team be playing against a top Germany women squad that provided the bulk of players for the Fifa World Cup national team last month, but it will also be a chance for the Zimbabwe ladies to market themselves.

Media reports have been awash with news that most Bundesliga women teams have been impressed with the Mighty Warriors players.

For most of the players though, it will be the feeling of playing at the renowned stadium, home of former European champions HSV Hamburger, which has sent them wild.

On Monday, the team was given an opportunity to tour the stadium situated in the heart of Hamburg city where they visited the main arena, the dressing room and the museum.

The team had lunch at the stadium restaurant. They were later taken for some sight-seeing and a boat cruise at the famed Hamburg Harbour, the largest port in Germany.

Last night, the Mighty Warriors were set to watch a high-profile pre-season friendly match between Spanish giants Valencia and HSV Hamburger at the 57 000 capacity stadium.

Today, they are also expected to meet some European stars like Juan Mata, Roberto Soldado (Valencia) and Eljero Elia who was also part of the Netherlands 2010 World Cup squad.

The stadium recently hosted the hugely-publicised world heavyweight unification boxing bout between Wladimir Klitschko and David Haye, which the former won by unanimous points decision.

It is also the same stadium that hosted the 2010 Uefa Europa league final when Spanish giants Athletico Madrid beat Fulham of England 2-1.
