Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai yesterday paid tribute to the Zimbabwean winner of this year’s Big Brother Amplified (BBA) reality television show, Wendall Parson, saying his achievement epitomised the character and personality of Zimbabweans.
“His victory will surely inspire other Zimbabweans to participate in the contest and to bring both honour and glory to this great country.
Throughout his 90-day stay in the ‘House’, Wendall showed the true Zimbabwean spirit of humility, courage, dignity and peace,” said Tsvangirai in a statement yesterday.
In an interview with NewsDay yesterday, Wendall, a pilot by profession who was the joint winner together with Nigerian Karen Igho, said he was yet to come to terms with his sterling achievement. The two pocketed $200 000 each.
“It is unbelievable and I am overwhelmed. I am very excited although I managed to put my country on the map by representing fellow Zimbabweans well whilst I was in the House,” he said.
Wendall said he had not yet made up his mind on how he will use the prize money, but said he was likely to invest it. He also plans to use some of it to develop his career as a pilot.
On Vimbai Mutinhiri, another Zimbabwean representative who also gave a remarkable account of herself at the show, Wendall said the local girl was like a sister to him.
“Vimbai is awesome. She is like a sister to me. When I told her she was freaking me out, it was a way to keep her and alert her about our core business in the House and not to be blinded by other issues,” he said.

He, however, did not rule out a romantic relationship with Vimbai, a model, saying anything was possible as she was his best friend in the House.
He also revealed he was close to Hanni (Ethiopia) as she was his smoking mate.
Wendall said even though Luclay (South Africa) did not manage to win anything, he walked into BBA a winner and left as one because he was a great person and actor who could pursue his acting career after BBA.
