AMG Global continues to support winter school games after they organised a brilliant event, the Ruzawi School Festival, in Marondera on Saturday.

The festival — the brainchild of Ruzawi headmaster Paul Davis who also initiated the Peterhouse Sevens’ Festival held last week — saw 10 junior schools participating in rugby, soccer, and fillies netball.

AMG Global also participated in sponsoring the Peterhouse Sevens’ festival.

Participating teams were: Hartmann House, Ruzawi, Barbarians, Lilfordia, Springvale House, St John’s Prep, Eaglesvale, Lendy Park, Gateway and Hellenic.

Ruzawi scooped two prizes after they won the girls’ fillies netball and the Grade 3 boys’ rugby when they narrowly beat St John’s Prep by a try.

The Grade 7 rugby/football finals saw St John’s Prep beating Gateway in a tough game with both teams going for the golden try after the game finished 10-10.

The juniors played both rugby and football, the idea being to improve players’ skills and develop their physique for the sports.

In the football matches, the teams were not allowed to field a goalkeeper and there were no off-sides, which made the games very exciting to watch.

“This is our third year hosting this tournament and we will continue doing the same thing, with the good set-up we have at the moment. I assure you we will not change anything, it’s a fantastic festival,” said Davis.
