The annual Super 4 Football Cup roars into life at Chemhanza grounds in Dzivaresekwa tomorrow with five teams expected to fight for honours.
Defending champions Evangel, who won the inaugural tournament last year, will battle it out with Chapomba, Magamba, Dymond Eagles and Old Skool.
Tournament sponsor Lovemore Chamatowa yesterday told NewsDay Sport that the tournament which caters for players from the age of 15-25 years provided an opportunity for the youth in Dzivaresekwa to showcase their talents, at the same time getting to know the Word of God.
“Evangel team was formed by youths from the Rindai Evangelical Church in Zimbabwe and we also want those who are playing soccer outside the church to know God,” said Chamatowa, who is an elder at the Rindai Evangelical Church.
Chamatowa said there would be prize money for the winners and all the participating teams although he could not disclose the actual figures.
“We want to keep these youth fit and away from social ills through sport. It is also a chance for them to showcase their talents and who knows maybe one day they could be earning a living from playing soccer. We have a lot of players who have started playing soccer at this level in Dzivaresekwa and have made it into the Premier Soccer League while others are also playing abroad,” added Chamatowa.
