If anyone enjoys exciting performances by South Africa’s Joyous Celebration then it goes without saying that they should not miss an opportunity to see Zimbabwe’s own inter-denominational praise and worship group Zim Praise perform at the event dubbed “The Power Live DVD Recording” at 7 Arts Theatre on Sunday.

The large choir will feature some of Zimbabwe’s most popular gospel musicians like Sebastian Magacha, Pastor G and Thembalami Tagwirei and will perform a total of 25 songs which were written by their producer Joseph Madzire and others.

Madzire, who is also chief executive officer of Extol Media Group, teamed up with one of the country’s leading producers, McDonald Chidavaenzi aka Mc Dee of Eternity Production and formed Zim Praise in 2005.

“The praise and worship group will also feature talented musicians from various Pentecostal churches like Zaoga, AFM and Faith Ministries amongst others,” said Madzire.

He said despite their popularity in making some of the hottest secular music productions for local urban groovers like Ex-q, Trevor Dongo and Extra Large amongst others, this time their Zim Praise project was not for commercial purposes, but for spreading the gospel.

Madzire said since its formation, Zim Praise had recorded their first album titled Zim Praise Volume 1 in 2006 which had the popular song Kana Usipo by Nox and Trevor Dongo and in 2009 they recorded the Zim Praise Volume 2 which featured Ndibateyi by Pride Priestly.

He said the event would be the best gospel affair ever staged in Zimbabwe.

“Our main aim is to unite the nation and various Christian denominations through worship and we seek to reconcile people with their Creator,” said Madzire.

He said the first generation of Zim Praise would be included on the recording and after that auditions will be conducted annually to give new and various musicians a chance to be part of the group.

“It’s about reaching out and bringing people to Christ and this is our strategic way of imparting the gifts we have from God to others,” he said.
