Sino-Zimbabwe loss control general manager Farai Maseka has been arrested on allegations of raping a 19-year-old woman, a security guard, whom he had assigned to protect his property in Borrowdale Brooke.

After allegedly raping the complainant, Maseka reportedly brandished his gun and threatened to wipe out her entire family if she exposed him.

The incident came to light last Thursday when the complainant, reported the matter to her company’s deputy general manager.

Maseka was not asked to plead when he appeared before regional magistrate Morgan Nemadire on Tuesday facing a rape charge.

He was remanded to August 2 for trial on $100 bail. As part of the bail conditions Maseka was ordered to report to the police every Friday and not interfere with State witnesses.

According to the State, sometime in April this year, Maseka allegedly deployed the woman to guard his residence in Borrowdale.

It is alleged later that night Maseka invited the complainant into one of his bedrooms where he allegedly made sexual advances.

The State alleges he grabbed the complainant by the waist and asked her to fondle his nipple, but she refused.

At this point, Maseka allegedly pushed the complainant onto his bed and raped her once.

After the encounter, Maseka allegedly drew out his gun and showed it to the complainant and threatened her with death if she spilled the beans.

However, the woman was allegedly frightened and did not report the matter until last week when she gathered courage and told her superiors.

The matter was then brought to the attention of Sino-Zim management board who called in the police, leading to Maseka’s arrest.
