MDC secretary-general Priscilla Misihairabwi-Mushonga yesterday fired a broadside at Zanu PF spin doctor Jonathan Moyo, charging the professor was haunted by the ghost of the infamous “Tsholotsho Declaration”.
The “Tsholotsho Declaration” of November 18 2004 was an alleged coup de palace by a Zanu PF faction which sought to rearrange the presidium and block the ascendancy of Joice Mujuru to the post of vice-president.
Misihairabwi-Mushonga said that was the reason the Tsholotsho North MP attacked “with reckless abandon” anyone who subscribed to a different political arrangement.
In a lengthy article published over the weekend, Moyo attacked Misihairabwi-Mushonga, accusing her of seeking the intervention of Sadc facilitator Lindiwe Zulu, following the arrest of MDC’s top brass two weeks ago.
Said Moyo in his hard-hitting article published in the State-controlled Sunday Mail: “Her call proves that she is not a fit and proper person to be a Cabinet minister because she has no confidence in the Constitution and laws she was sworn to uphold as a minister and as an appointed Member of Parliament.
“A minister who behaves in such a treacherous manner on the basis of false information is a danger not only to herself and her political party, but also to Zimbabwe and is as such a threat to our national security.”
Misihairabwi-Mushonga told NewsDay yesterday Moyo had no prerogative to determine who was fit to be minister.
“Jonathan Moyo should just say what he is angry about. Some of us know that his attempts to revive the Dinyane plot (Tsholotsho Declaration) are not working and that is why he is angry with everyone.

“It comes down to the Dinyane debacle and attempts to resuscitate it. Jonathan Moyo has always imagined himself as the king of Matabeleland. If there is someone who seems to be doing something for the region, he shoots them down.
“Jonathan Moyo went back to Zanu PF with a promise that he would bring back Matabeleland to Zanu PF, but since that is not happening, and will never happen, he is frustrated.”
