Mufakose MP Paurina Gwanyanya–Mpariwa on Friday donated 10 wheelchairs to a selected group of disabled residents in her constituency.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Gwanyanya-Mpariwa said: “Everyone is important to the other, whether they are disabled or not. We cannot prescribe to God how we want our lives to be.

Anyone of us needs assistance one way or the other. Let us unite, take care of one another and know that there is a way out of every situation.

“There are others who failed to get wheelchairs today, please do not lose heart, we are here for you. Your needs are our concern as your children in this community.

We want to bring notable, real change into everyone’s home. We are one family in Mufakose.” National Association of Societies for the Care of the Handicapped executive director, Farai Mukuta sourced the wheelchairs on behalf of the MP to assist the elderly and the disabled members of her constituency.

One of the recipients, 71-year-old Eunice Brown said: “MP, I do not know you. When you were elected, I was already paralysed. I have no children, I have no husband, but you have remembered me.”

Among the beneficiaries was an 83-year-old granny.
