Local musician Dean Jones will perform at Meikles Hotel’s “Christmas in July” event next Saturday.

Meikles Hotel general manager Tinashe Munjoma said entertaining music by Jones would be performed during a six-course dinner in the presence of “Father” and “Mother Christmas” with presents and giveaways for diners in the hotel’s flagship restaurant, La Fontaine Grillroom.

“This will be a fine opportunity for people to enjoy all the trimmings of Christmas cuisine and attend fun activities at a time of year when the weather makes them perhaps that much more enjoyable,” said Munjoma.

He said the United Methodist Choir would sing carols in the foyer during the guests’ arrival, just as they do each Christmas Eve.

“Christmas in the southern hemisphere is celebrated at the height of summer, so people often enjoy the food perhaps a little less than their counterparts in the northern hemisphere, where it is celebrated in mid-winter,” he said.

Munjoma said they would pull out all the stops to give people a mid-winter treat, with a second Christmas dinner on offer.

La Fontaine has a history of hosting special functions, in addition to playing the role of one of Zimbabwe’s best-known and most celebrated dining venues plus a landmark on the local dining and entertainment scene.

“Christmas in July will be another of our annual special events, such occasion, with a fine six-course meal and attendant fun and entertainment to give diners of all ages a wonderful night out,” said Munjoma.
