The Southern Region is abuzz with Premiership football action this weekend as Chicken Inn seek to avenge the 1-0 defeat suffered at the hands of Dynamos when they meet at Luveve Stadium Saturday.

Chicken Inn lost to Dynamos last Wednesday at Rufaro Stadium with a goal from veteran Murape Murape.

Across town at Barbourfields Stadium, troubled Zimbabwe Saints take on Hwange after losing to the coal-miners 1-0 at the Colliery two weeks ago.

League pacesetters FC Platinum entertain Masvingo United at Mandava Stadium in Zvishavane after being held to a 1-1 draw at Mucheke Stadium a fortnight ago.

On Sunday Highlanders, fresh from a goalless draw with Kiglon Bird on Wednesday face the Harare side in the reverse fixture at Barbourfields Stadium.

The Philani “Beefy” Ncube-coached Chicken Inn, who have secured international clearances for top strikers Evans Chikwaikwai and Tendai Ndoro hope to upset DeMbare and leap to the third spot on the log-standings.

They are currently on position five behind Bosso and Dynamos and a win tomorrow would catapult them to the third spot with the Harare football giants hoping to collect three points and mounting a strong campaign against FC Platinum and reigning champions Motor Action, who sit on position two.

Zimbabwe Saints, with cater-taker coach Edmore Sibanda at the helm, seek to maintain their no-loss record in Bulawayo and ensure a flight from the relegation zone against Hwange, who are smarting from a 1-0 defeat to Dynamos in the quarter-finals of the BancABC Sup8r Cup at Gibbo Stadium in Triangle last Saturday.

In Zvishavane, coach Rahman Gumbo and his star-studded FC Platinum seek a win against Masvingo United, who probably play their last match under mentor Luke Masomere, who has reportedly joined Zimbabwe Saints.

Former Masvingo United striker Tendai Nyamadzawo is understood to be training with the platinum miners while sources told NewsDay Sport the cash-rich Zvishavane team has recalled midfielder Ntokozo Tshuma, who was on loan to Chikwata.

Highlanders, without captain Gilbert Banda who is leaving for South Africa for another trial stint with Platinum Stars today, hope to break the jinx and ride over relegation-threatened Kiglon Bird.

Bosso failed to beat a newly-assembled Kiglon on Wednesday and settled for a goalless draw.

Last year, Kiglon beat Bosso 1-0 in Harare and salvaged a point with a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture at Emagumeni.
