Following a month-long international break due to the Sables’ commitments on the international front, action in the Lion Lager National Rugby League returns Saturday with a clash of the titans between log leaders Old Georgians and second-placed Harare Sports Club.

The match will kick off at 1530hrs at the Groombridge-based Old Georgians Sports Club.

Before the month-long break Old Georgians and Harare Sports Club were easily the most consistent teams in the league, which is why most of their players dominated places in the Sables’ team.

Red-hot Old Georgians who are yet to lose a match in eight outings this season currently, lead the log standings with 39 points from eight matches, with Harare Sports Club just four points adrift in second place.

Harare Sports Club’s only defeat of the season came at the hands of Old Georgians in the season’s opening fixture in April when they went down 23-15 at home, in what was a repeat of last season’s final.

Another major attraction in this match will be the battle between national team players, who only last week were rubbing shoulders alongside each other in the Sables’ campaign.

Some of the players in Grant Mitchell’s Old Georgians, who were part of the Sables include inform full-back Danny Robertson, skipper Jacques Leitao, Njabulo Ndlovu, Fortune Chipendu and Devon Esbach Harare Sports Club, who are coached by Sables’ assistant coach Cyprian Mandenge also boost of players like Denford Mutamangira, Danny Hondo, Shingi Mpofu, Tangai Nemadire and Kuda Kambasha.

In an earlier match at Old Georgians, Zimbo Busters take on league strugglers Air Force who are in seventh position on the eight-team log.

In other matches, Old Hararians travel to Bulawayo for a tricky encounter against fifth-placed Old Miltonians, who will be eager to revive their campaign after a poor start.

Fixtures: Western Panthers v Mutare Sports Club (Hartsfield 1340hrs), Old Georgians v Harare Sports Club (Old Georgians 1530hrs), Old Miltonians v Old Hararians (Hartsfield 1530hrs), Air Force v Zimbo Busters (Old Georgians 1445hrs).
