Miss Vee — latest dancehall queen

Dancehall queen Vennah Sharon Matorwa, aka Miss Vee, is currently based in South Africa but said she cannot wait to extensively promote her newly-designed reggae act in her country of origin.

To prove her prowess, Matorwa mesmerised her fans with a fine-tuned show at the Elephant Man gig two weeks ago.

One could be forgiven for confusing her with the likes of Jamaican dancehall divas, Stacey, Lady Saw and Sacrifice singer Alaine Laughton, because of her well-polished stage performance.

“I am inspired by Brick and Lace as well as Rihanna though we sing different types of music altogether,” said the dancehall queen.

Miss Vee said she started singing when she was six years old at St George’s Primary School in Cape Town and she used to sing in the church choir.

Miss Vee has done a lot of shows having performed with different South African artists, sensational Zimbabwe group Transit Crew as well as Ugandan artist Dr Normans. She said she was currently working with DJ Uphoria from SA.

The 20-year-old is studying for an accountancy degree at the University of Johannesburg.

Miss Vee, who also worked with young Guspy Warrior in her songs, is anticipating releasing two albums within a short space of time.

“I am looking forward to working with many Zimbabwe artists who are doing well in the music industry, the likes of X-tra Large, who have approached me to do collaborations with them,” she said.
