Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) Voice of Zimbabwe Assignments executive Joseph Mandizvidza has died. He was 31.

Family spokesperson Tazzen Mandizvidza who is also ZBC’s general manager for News and Current Affairs told NewsDay that Joseph died in a car accident just outside Selous on Saturday, after the car he was travelling in burst its rear tyre and overturned.

He sustained serious head injuries and died on the spot.

Born in 1980 in a family of eight, the late Mandizvidza did his Advanced Levels at Nkululeko High School before enrolling for a Bachelor of science media and society studies degree at Midlands State University.

He first worked for The Herald before joining ZBC, operating from Gweru offices.

“It’s painful to lose a younger brother who had so much talent and potential. He was a young man we had immense hope in, one who could possibly look after the whole family tomorrow,” said the elder Mandizvidza.

Joseph Mandizvidza who leaves behind wife Ratidzo and a three-year-old son Tinotenda, will be buried in Gweru at Mtapa Cemetery this morning. Mourners are gathered at House no 6151 South View, South Down in Gweru.
