Bulawayo Volleyball Association team Highlanders had a good outing as they won all their games in an invitational tournament at Raylton Sports Club in Gweru at the weekend.

Cats Volleyball Club hosted the tournament in the Midlands town.

The Bulawayo side beat Diamonds, Regina Mundi High School and the Midlands Youth Games team 2-0 in the round-robin format.

In other games Diamonds beat Regina Mundi 2-0 while Regina Mundi came back a better side in the second game, beating the Midlands Youth Games team 2-0.

Diamonds edged Midlands Select 2-0 in another game while Regina Mundi went down 2-0 to Midlands Select.

Cats Volleyball Club team manager Wayne Dungeni said: “The games were very competitive and we are impressed with the level of play. The Midlands Youth Games team was impressive although they lost their games. We will now hold the tournament annually and we hope it will be bigger and better,” he said.

In the men’s division Oldies were crowned winners of the tournament after they beat hosts Cats 3-0.

In the semi-finals Cats beat Kwekwe Pacers 2-0 while Midlands Select went down 2-0 to Oldies.

Cats beat Midlands Select 2-1 before winning 2-1 against St Joseph from Gokwe.

St Joseph succumbed to their second defeat when they lost 2-0 to Midlands Select. In Pool B Oldies beat Kwekwe Pacers 2-1 and won 2-0 against Fletcher High School.

Fletcher suffered another 2-0 defeat to Kwekwe Pacers.
