The Harare Magistrates’ Court has received a major facelift courtesy of the timely intervention of the Judicial Services Commission (JSC) which funded the rehabilitation of the centre’s almost obsolete water and sewer reticulation system.

A few months ago, a ticking time bomb was looming at the country’s biggest criminal courts after its water and sewer systems collapsed.

Provincial magistrate Mishrod Guvamombe was ecstatic about the development on Sunday and applauded the JSC and the chief magistrates’ office for their timely intervention.

“JSC released tranches of funds and paid for plumbing, electrical and other repairs. This was after their visit here and things have significantly improved, members of staff are happy as well as litigants,” Guvamombe said.

He, however, declined to disclose the costs of the renovations.

He said similar projects would be carried out at other courts in and around Harare.
