Twelve suspected MDC-T activists, who were arrested in Glen View over the alleged murder of Police Inspector Petros Mutedza two months ago, were Friday granted bail ranging between $300 and $1 000.

High Court judge Justice Tendai Uchena, however, denied bail to seven other MDC-T activists, ruling them unsuitable candidates for bail.

Gabriel Shumba, Stefani Takaidzwa, Linda Musiyamhanje, Tafadzwa Billiart, Simon Mudimu, Zwelibanzi Dube, Simon Mapanzure, Edwin Muingiri, Augustine Tengenyika, Francis Vambai and Gapara Nyamadzawo were all granted bail of $300 each and ordered to reside at the addresses given in court papers.

They were ordered to surrender their passports and report to police three times per week. Last Tamai Maengahama, the alleged leader of the group, was granted $1 000 bail.

The eight who were denied bail are: Tungamirai Madzokere, Stanford Maengahama, Phenias Nhatarikwa, Stanford Mangwiro, Yvonne Musarurwa, Rebecca Mafukeni, Cynthia Fungai Manjoro and Lazarus Maengahama.

Meanwhile, police are reportedly still investigating the matter and some Glen View residents are said to be living in fear of being picked up.

One of such is Caroline Jena who is reported to have fled to the United Kingdom after her sister Faith Jena was allegedly assaulted over the same matter.
