Representatives from all three parties in the inclusive government on Thursday agreed the organ for national healing had failed in its mandate.
A meeting organised by Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights to deliberate on progress of the exercise confirmed the observation.
Zanu PF, MDC-T and MDC-N were all represented at the meeting held under the banner “Is the unity government sincere about national healing?”
Zanu PF Manicaland deputy provincial spokesperson Charles Samuriwo said politicians should desist from pushing their parties’ agendas to the detriment of the organ.
“National healing should have started before other elements such as Copac. The problems that we have today in Copac are because the people there are filled with unhealed wounds therefore working together becomes a problem,” he said.
MDC-T Manicaland spokesperson Pishai Muchauraya also said selective application of the law was the major drawback in national healing.
“The organ is failing to meet its objectives because of the application of the law. Perpetrators continue harassing people.
“People that we have in the organ are not the best qualified for the job.

“The organ is full of politicians picked on the basis of loyalty to their political parties,” said Muchauraya.
The MDC-N secretary for business and investments Sondon Magaradziko proposed four elements which should be adopted by the government.
He said there was need to heal the wounds of the victims, apply justice, truth-telling and then compensation directed towards the victims.
“Our approach at the moment lacks these aspects therefore the objectives will not be met. National healing should be the major outstanding issue in the GPA, but surprisingly enough no one is talking about it, only partisan issues,” he said.
