Castle Lager Premiership returnees Masvingo United will seek to defend their unbeaten home run when they lock horns with log leaders FC Platinum at their citadel, Mucheke Stadium, tomorrow.

Despite being dogged by in-house problems at the start of the season, Masvingo United had fared so well at home that they have not conceded defeat so far.

It is this trend that the team has to maintain against all odds, despite playing star-studded Platinum, which bought the crème de la crème of the local Premiership.

Una Una, as Masvingo are known by their faithfuls, drew nil-all with Chicken Inn in their last home game. They also drew one-all with Motor Action in their last away match. Team coach Luke “Vahombe” Masomere said they were set to defend their unbeaten home streak as they had put their house in order.

“We are going into the game with one thing in mind — victory. I do not foresee us conceding our first defeat at home at this time. We have put everything in place and we are expecting a good game.

“We are also calling upon our supporters to come in their numbers and rally behind the boys as our pride is at stake,” said Masomere.

The veteran award-winning mentor dispelled fears that his charges would have a psychological disadvantage as they were facing the log leaders who have big names in their line-up.

“My charges are very confident and we are not going into the game as underdogs. Actually, we have a better psychological advantage as we are playing at home where we have not lost so far,” said Masomere.

Masvingo is squatting at eighth position on the log standings with 19 points.
