Nyasha Matonhodze, a United Kingdom-based model, keeps raising the Zimbabwean flag high internationally and her latest achievement is a slot by YOU magazine naming her as one of the top 10 models in the world to look out for.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, the magazine compiled a new list of the future models who could give well-established catwalkers a run for their money and Matonhodze was part of the list.

“So after meeting a handful of catwalk hopefuls, chatting with model agents and scouring the shows, we’ve compiled a new must-watch list — the future girls who could well give Ms Moss a run for her money,” read part of the report.

The other nine models who were listed are Saskia de Brauw, Julia Saner, Hailey Clauson, Emily Baker, Josephine Skriver, Cailin Hill, Colinne, Michaelis, Molly Smith and Sui He.

Earlier this year, 16-year-old Matonhodze was revealed as one of the new fresh faces of luxury French fashion label Louis Vuitton’s 2011 autumn/winter campaign. Since then, she has caused a sensational stir among blue-chip designers and casting directors.

Hailing from Northampton, Zimbabwean-born Matonhodze was discovered in her school uniform at Elite model agency in 2009 and went on to win the prestigious Elite Model Look UK competition later that year.

It is her beauty and sober personality that has made her the new favourite of fashion editor Katie Grand, who kick-started Matonhodze’s career during her debut spring 2011 season when she booked the young model for Louis Vuitton, Emanuel Ungaro and Loewe. After those key catwalk sightings, Matonhodze shot spreads for Harper’s Bazaar, Teen Vogue and V Magazine. Better yet, she got the contract with Louis Vuitton, shot by renowned fashion photographer Steven Meisel and styled by Karl Templer.

Zimbabwean models have shown great potential, with models such as Australia-based Teurai Chanakira shining in that country last year after being named the Australian Face of Authentic Fashion Renaissance.

Vanessa Sibanda also showed potential after being crowned second runner-up for the Miss Top Model of the World 2011 beauty pageant which was held in Germany.
