St John’s win schools tourney

Hyundai and ZOL co-sponsored a five-a-side football tournament at Hellenic School for U-13 teams from 13 schools around Harare. Hyundai and ZOL co-sponsored a five-a-side football tournament at Hellenic School for U-13 teams from 13 schools around Harare.

The tournament started at 2pm and finished at 7pm with a brief prize-giving ceremony.

Schools which participated were Eaglesvale, St John’s, Emerald Hill (school for the deaf), Alex Park, Heritage, Highlands, Lusitania, Twin Rivers, Hartmann House, Gateway, Hellenic, Borrowdale and Westgate

St John’s won the tournament after beating Hartmann House 1-0.

The children played very well and enjoyed the day.

The food for the contestants was sponsored by Groombridge Spar, water and juice by Spar and fruit by Spar Fresh.

Nestle were there with their Milo stand giving free tasting to the kids. Many parents joined the festivities after work and the crowd was filled with excitement to watch the final game between St John’s and Hartmann House.

Hyundai’s Global Initiative called the One Million Dream Ball Campaign was launched last Friday and has been launched throughout Africa.

This campaign hopes to see up to 1 000 000 balls reach underprivileged kids throughout Africa.

Automotive Distributor Incorporated (ADI) gave out over 250 balls on Friday night, one to each child participating in the tournament and four to each school for their sports department.

ADI is the official distributor for Hyundai in Zimbabwe and is now open and situated at Motor City along Seke Road in Graniteside.
