Ten teams have qualified for the semi-finals of Zimbabwe’s finest Dance Group competition after a quarterfinal battle that pitted 15 groups at the 7Arts Theatre in Avondale on Saturday night.

The 10 qualifiers include the Royal Crew, Magnetic Force, Gravity, Break Equation, Real Flex, Zina, Assassins, Poptronix, Supreme Being and the Flip Floppers.

“We are going to have two types of finals with the first one on July 23 where the Zimbabwe’s Finest Dance Group winner will walk away with US$2 000. The other final will be on August 6 where the winner will be selected from the remaining 5 groups,” said the competition Director, Adonis Muronzi.

Muronzi said the winners will receive US$4 000 in addition to a trip to the United States of America to participate in the World Hip Hop Competition next year.

Dance groups like The Diplomats stole the thunder as they imitated the legendary Michael Jackson in their act – Michael Jackson Anniversary Tribute’.

“I really feel that the Diplomats deserved to go to the next round because of their tribute dance because they managed to imitate Michael Jackson and on this very day in 2009 he died. So it was a real anniversary,” said a loyal Hip-Hop follower in the audience.

Teenagers were the majority in the audience that thronged the venue for this rare treat.
