Knowledge Musona has thanked his Kaizer Chiefs teammates for “being honest” after he was named the club’s Players’ Player of the Season.

The 21-year-old marksman received his award on Wednesday night at the club’s end-of-season function in Kyalami, Johannesburg.

“Knodgy” scored 20 goals in all competitions during the 2010/11 season and feels his teammates picked the right man for the award.

“They saw my contribution during the season and now they are acknowledging it,” Musona told KickOff.com on Thursday.

“They are my teammates and they were not jealous of me, that’s why they picked me. I must say thanks very much to them for being honest.

“I also want to thank my coach (Vladimir Vermezovic) and my teammates for their support. I couldn’t have made it on my own,” said Musona, who was instrumental in Amakhosi’s Telkom Knockout triumph and was deservedly named the Player of the Tournament as well as being the top striker of the competition.

Meanwhile, Musona’s visa will be ready on Monday after which he will travel to Germany for trials at Bundesliga side Hoffenheim.

Scottish giants Glasgow Celtic have also formally approached Chiefs with the intention of looking at the player.

Musona added: “I can’t say I’m leaving for now, because I still have to travel to Germany for trials and I haven’t heard anything about Glasgow Celtic, but it is my dream to play in the top leagues in Europe and my team, Chiefs, will let me go to fulfil my dreams . . . I was nervous when I came to Chiefs, but I adapted. If I sign for the German team I will be nervous but I will adapt. I feel I’m ready to play overseas.”

Musona’s 2010/11 honours at Chiefs: Player of the Month for September, October, November and December (including a Southern Sun Voucher and R5 000 cash from Vodacom for each month) Goal of the Season (R10 000 prize from Nike) Players’ Player of the Season (R25 000 prize from Nike) Top Goalscorer (R30 000 prize from Nike)
