Young upcoming Sungura Artiste, Obvious Mutani together with his band, the Sungano Express will leave the country on Tuesday for a Mozambique tour where he will perform in three different cities.

The 22-year-old energetic musician, together with his hyped band, will perform in Tete, Chimoio and Maputo on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

“I am overwhelmed by this opportunity that has been awarded to me after a Mozambican promoter, Arifonzo Matata was impressed with one of my performances at Sanganai Inn during his visit to Zimbabwe in 2010,” said Mutani.

Mutani said at that time Matata told him that he would invite him to perform in Mozambique but he thought he was just joking until he recently received an invitation to perform there.

He said he was going to be the main act at all three shows and would have lots of supporting acts from popular Mozambican musicians.

“I’m very happy because it is a chance for me to market my music in Mozambique, other African countries and beyond,” he said.

Mutani said he was going to give them more than a good performance from Zimbabwe including good behaviour to avoid tarnishing the name of the local music industry.

He said he aimed at mainly promoting the songs from his fourth and latest six-track offering titled Loaded Weapon and of course a few popular tracks from before.

“People can look out for two songs that I know will definitely touch their hearts and these are Amanda and Tsano Havadye Derere which are both comic and educational songs based on marital relationships,” he said.

Mutani said he hoped he would get along with the Mozambican artistes so they could collaborate in the near future.

He said he was trying his best to uplift his music by singing his own songs throughout his shows unlike most Sungura artistes who tend to sing songs by popular Sungura giants during performances.

“I hope they will continue to invite me to their country because it will help me to quickly spread my music to other countries,” said Mutani.

Mutani has had great responses in his previous albums which include Marudzi Dananai (2007), Toisa Kuvanhu (2009) and Rufaro Kwamuri (2010).
