Zimbabwean midfielder Lionel Mutizwa will be loaned out by Mamelodi Sundowns to open up yet another foreign spot to accommodate two new Nigerian signings.

Mutizwa signed at the beginning of last season and due to turn 27 next month, has been unfortunate to battle with injuries in his first season at Sundowns despite having shown glimpses of his qualities in the few games that he played.

Sundowns have signed two new Nigerian players, midfielder Solomon Okpako and a striker who the club want to be registered, for the new season.

This will mean two foreigners have to be sacrificed.

With Eduardo Ferreira having opened up one foreign spot after being transfer-listed, Mutizwa’s departure on loan will make way for the second foreigner.

The two Nigerians are now likely to join Mozambican winger Elias Pelembe along with the Zimbabwean duo of Nyasha Mushekwi and Method Mwanjali as the five foreigners on Sundowns’ books.

It is not clear yet what will happen with the other new Zimbabwean signing Simba Sithole, but it is expected that he would be loaned out for the first year as he is not being considered for the starting eleven yet. —Kick-Off
